Sustainable Regeneration -
Highly innovative methods
of community engagement, cohesion and integration, resulting in the development
of social capital and sustainable communities. The best example of this is
the work conducted in Seedley and Langworthy from 2002 to 2005 producing 3
films :
- 'Wrecked' (April 2003) examining binge
drinking and car crime – at
the time these were key issues in the community.
- 'Gas and Air' (October 2003) tackling issues
of teenage pregnancy and volatile gas abuse – This film was developed
as part of an educational film package which was to be shown in schools
nationally as part of the citizenship programme.
- 'Madhouse' (July 2004) targeting mental health
issues for young
people – some of the participants have personally experienced
mental health problems. This film is currently under development
as an educational package.
In Lower Kersal
two further community films were produced :
- 'Fameless' (April 2005)
highlighting the need for tolerance in the community.
- 'A
Knight in Salford' (June 2006) which premiered
with an audience
of 1200 local people at the prestigious Lowry Theatre in
Salford and presented an unusual take on the respect agenda.
The legacy of the work completed in the communities within the Salford areas
is substantial (more):
