Social Inclusion and Cohesion
The REEL model is a highly innovative method of community engagement, integrating communities and resulting in the development of sustainable communities in otherwise socially deprived areas.
Cross generational issues within one community -
Working with the Salford community over several years, REELmcr identified and tackled real issues facing the community. These communities voiced their views, identified and explored issues of community concern and took part in the making of several high quality productions which explored these issues.
High quality films are created which draw upon input direct from the community using the experience of participants to help other people to improve their own lives. For instance – 'A Knight in Salford' addresses cross generational concerns and issues of mutual respect within communities. This film was “premiered” at the Lowry with 1200 members of the community attending to celebrate participants and the communities achievement. Films were then sold within the community, the proceeds being used to take groups of young people on trips in the school holidays.
