Gorton, Manchester, August 2002. (26mins.)
'The
'A' Team, armed with their bass lines and relentless rhymes, finally
get a gig in the city centre.
Football, girls and street violence all conspire against them. They desperately
want to impress,
but will they even make it to the gig?'

The 30 minute film, Urban Culture, was devised, scripted and filmed in 48 hours of summer 'Splash Extra' by the 14-17 year old participants of the Gorton 'On the Streets' project.
Urban Culture is a reflection of the lives of many of our young people in urban centres all over the UK, the street violence that is an almost daily occurence and the criminality it is so easy to be drawn into, but it also shows us their creativity, their fight for identity and the strength of their friendships.
Urban Culture may seem tough but the reality is much harder to comprehend...
