Tameside youth service approached REELmcr in late 2007, following four previous projects covering a huge range of issues. This time we were asked to work with a LGBTYP group, to look at the issues and prejudice facing young people when they come out. The film covered the difficulties both at home, school and among peers.
By allowing these young people to express their experiences, and sending their work to Stonewall, the friendships they made and their pride in their work created a palpable rise in their confidence and self-esteem.
