REELmcr is a dynamic, not for profit social enterprise, committed to giving a voice to the most alienated, deprived, under represented and vulnerable communities. We provide intergenerational community groups from across the North West, with the opportunity to gain experience of innovative media production and a chance to tell the personal or collective stories of individuals and communities, using filmmaking as a medium for storytelling, encouraging groups to focus on the issues that affect all members of their community, rather than their differences, cohesion is the goal that underpins all of our projects.

The Wilbraham Heritage project has been shortlisted for two 'Be Proud - Love Manchester' awards this year. 'The Community Project of the year' and 'Creativity in the Community' are two awards that we would be proud to add to the 'Be Proud - Contribution to the Community (Business) Award, that the 'GreenWave' project won last year. The Awards ceremony will take place on the 9th December at Manchester Town Hall. Well done to everyone who took part and helped make 'The Great Estate' such a success. |

'Weave a Future of Hope and Peace' is the working title of our Stories of the World documentary and is now in post-production. We have a Premiere date of 5th February 2012 at the beautiful Burnley Mechanics. The REELmcr 'Stories of the World' project was a year-long journey though Burnleys textile heritage with ten young Burnley residents. Documented and guided by REELmcr, the groups growing awareness of the historical importance of their Town was mirrored by a growing confidence and pride in themselves. The project culminated in a poetry workshop to evaluate the knowledge gained by the group. The reading of the poem, 'Weave a Future, Hope and Peace' was filmed and can be watched on the project Facebook page. |
